Social Science Consulting develops and distributes software for the analysis of numerical and textual data.
You can download test version and manuals, these are free so that you can test whether the software suit your needs.
There is also a CD available that contains all the test versions, manuals, and tutorials. It costs 20 € (Euro) including shipping, these will be deducted from your invoice if you buy a full version.
The test versions of the programs developed by Social Science Consulting work for an unlimited period of time, but are restricted: TextGrab only downloads one specific website, you cannot specify your own. TextQuest only processes the first 100 text units of a file, and the printing is disabled. All test versions are based on the newest full versions and include the manual as a PDF-file. The manual can be downloaded separately if the program is not needed.
TextQuest
TextQuest is a program for computer aided content analysis, but has also other features that are useful in the humanities and the social sciences. It can count single words, phrases, and combinations of words. The context of a search pattern
can be displayed in KWIC-format or in the whole text unit. The main modules however are the content analysis and the readability module.
TextQuest is available in 3 languages. Currently the new version 3.0 is not available in Spanish.

TextGrab downloads the texts of a whole website or a part of it and prepares it in a way that a computer aided content analysis can be performed without too much editing of the data. It is a command line drive program that can work in the background.

Intext - the MS-DOS version of TextQuest - is a program that you can use free of charge. The manual is included in the setup file ConClus - Constrained Cluster Analysis
ConClus is a program for cluster, factor, and scale analysis. It allows the weighting of variables and cases, and the cluster analysis can also be performed as a confirmatory analysis.

Simstat can work in several languages: English, French, Dutch, and German.

PolyAnalyst is a data mining suite that covers many data mining task from descriptive statistics, classifical multivariate analyses like regression (also non-linear), up to finding laws, decision trees and decision forest, clustering, to market basket analysis. It is available only for Windows NT 4.0, XP and Windows 2000 Professional.
Megaputer offers full versions of PolyAnalyst
Test versions and manuals for both Polyanalyst and TextAnalyst have to be obtained through the
PolyAnalyst website. Fill out Megaputer's form and do not forget to tick the box for the manual.
